As Principal of Columbia, I see firsthand every day how hard our students work to get to graduation day, and all that comes after. Sometimes the amount of a CHSSF award means the difference between enrolling or not enrolling in that first (or second, or third…) semester of college. I am also so proud of the way that being an award recipient seems, for many students, to be the first thing that connects them back to CHS, when they have just barely left. Many speak about wanting to give back when they can – and I imagine that they will, knowing what difference a scholarship can make. They are honored that their hard work is being noted by others, and I think it really motivates them – as such an honor should – to want to be worthy of it.
