DEVELOPMENT works on fundraising, publicity, marketing strategies and the newsletter. This subcommittee welcomes volunteer members who want to work on our projects while not assuming the responsibilities of being a full trustee.
FINANCE oversees investments with our Treasurer and outside financial advisors.
SELECTION distributes applications in March, audits the completed applications, and meets for one week in May to review the applications and award scholarships. The subcommittee's recommendations are voted upon and approved at the general meeting in May. SELECTION also organizes our reception for recipients and their families in June.
NOMINATING works to develop a list of candidates for open trustee positions. Their work is done in August and September so that the new trustees can be introduced at the first general meeting of the year in October.
Columbia High School Scholarship Fund
The Columbia High School Scholarship Fund (CHSSF) was established in 1923 with the mission of providing need-based financial assistance to graduates of Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ for any kind of post secondary education. Since its founding, CHSSF has awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships to several thousand students. CHSSF is governed by an independent board of local volunteers and is proud to be the largest provider of need-based scholarships in the South Orange and Maplewood community.
