Applicants must be seniors or graduates of CHS. Scholarships can be used for any kind of post secondary education, such as two or four-year college, technical or vocational school and even graduate school. Criteria include financial need, demonstrated probability of success at the chosen school as indicated by input from guidance counselors for seniors and information on the application for other candidates, and willingness to assume some financial responsibility through working, savings or student loans. Scholarships are awarded for one year only; students may reapply annually. Applications are available at CHS during two designated weeks in March, with completed applications due April 16.

IMPORTANT NOTE: at this time, applications cannot be completed online. They must be completed and returnedby mail to CHSSF, P.O. Box 315, Maplewood, NJ 07040. They will NOT be accepted at CHS.

The Columbia High School Scholarship Fund (CHSSF) was established in 1923 with the mission of providing need-based financial assistance to graduates of Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ for any kind of post secondary education. Since its founding, CHSSF has awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships to several thousand students. CHSSF is governed by an independent board of local volunteers and is proud to be the largest provider of need-based scholarships in the South Orange and Maplewood community.
